Jennifer Spencer
Jen Spencer has been a recruiter in the KC advertising, marketing, and creative industries for over 25 years. After working for a few recruiting firms early in her career, she took a chance and founded The Spencer Group in 2001 with just a legal pad, a pen and an old school phone.
Jen is now an expert in helping companies find and secure talent for full-time and contract positions, serving as a true partner in the full cycle recruitment process. She has an innate ability to understand the needs of the company and position while bringing her signature “Jenergy” to the process. Jen’s deep experience with resumes and portfolios, interviewing and salary negotiation, make her a perfect partner for candidates whether they are looking for their second or fifth job. She works with every size of company, primarily in Kansas City and the greater Midwest.
Because of Jen’s ability to provide invaluable job search advice as well as insider tips on what companies are really looking for in candidates in her signature “Jenergy” style, she is a sought after speaker at colleges, universities, and professional associations. She is a past board member of the KC Ad Club, KCDMA, and currently serves on the board for Digital Women of Kansas City as the Events Chair.

Kimberly Spencer
With over two decades of progressive experience in Talent Acquisition and Leadership Development, Kimberly is currently serving as Vice President of Recruitment and Leadership Development for The Spencer Group.
Kimberly’s focus extends to various fields, including Marketing, Advertising, Digital, Copy & Design, Social Media, Communications, Healthcare, Commerce, and PR. She takes pride in her 360-degree approach to talent matching, catering to positions ranging from entry-level to C-level executives.
Prior to her current role, she spent 9 years as the Group Director of Talent Acquisition for North America at VML, a global Marketing and Communications agency which included supporting 16 offices and collaborating with a network of 12+ acclaimed agencies.
Kimberly’s career has been defined by a passion for fostering talent, implementing effective recruitment strategies, and contributing to organizational growth. She is known for her strategic mindset, leadership empowerment, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
